About me

Welcome to Sincerely, Rio.

Hey there! I’m Paloma, and Rio de Janeiro holds a truly special place in my heart. The first time I visited the city in 2006, I remember thinking, “I could live here.” Little did I know that just four years later, I’d be living in Rio and spending amazing years there.

You always hear that Rio is one of the most beautiful cities in the world, but it’s only when you experience it for yourself that you truly understand why. It’s not just the stunning views; it’s the unique energy of the city, and the way it makes you feel alive. That’s why I still return regularly—to reconnect with friends and immerse myself in a place that never fails to awe me.

I’m also a travel enthusiast who’s visited over 40 countries. And, I’ll admit it—I actually love the planning part of a trip. I know, some of you probably think I’m one of those weirdos. For me, the journey starts long before takeoff—diving into research, imagining myself in new destinations, and curating lists of must-see spots and incredible restaurants is half the fun.

Combining my passion for Rio and travel, I’ve spent years sharing recommendations with friends and their friends—tips on what to see, where to eat, and how to enjoy Rio like a local. Now, I want to share those recommendations more broadly and help even more people fall in love with this amazing city.

When it came time to choose the name for this blog, I did what anyone would do—I asked ChatGPT (of course!) how did “Sincerely, Rio” sound like. It suggested that it could convey a heartfelt and thoughtful blog that aims to provide a genuine, personal and inviting portrayal of Rio de Janeiro. It immediately felt like the perfect match for what I wanted this blog to be.

I hope you’ll feel the same and find inspiration here for your own Rio adventure.

Sincerely, Paloma
